The FIA Market Technology Division has published a summary report on “Operation Blow Torch”, the inaugural annual cybersecurity scenario workshop. The workshop was held on October 17, 2017, and provided a forum for FIA members to work through how they would respond to a cyber-attack on a fictitious clearinghouse and its potential impact on market participants and the industry as a whole. Some 50 representatives from 20 member firms representing futures brokers, exchanges, clearinghouses and key service providers attended the workshop. The summary report describes the objectives of the workshop as well as its scenario, discussion points, feedback on how the exercise was conducted, and key points for firms to take away and include in their business continuity plans.
