Steve Staszak is the former executive director of clearing operations at CME Group. He started his career at the CME in 1971 at just 17 years old, working on the floor. He joined CME’s clearinghouse in 1985 and held a variety of positions over the years until he retired as executive director of clearing operations in 2019.
Staszak has been a member of FIA since 1988 when he was asked to represent CME Clearing at an FIA Clearing Committee meeting. He was appointed to the FIA Chicago Operations Board in 1993 and to the New York Futures Services Board in 2006.
Throughout his career, Staszak was a tireless advocate for addressing back-office business needs. His role on both FIA boards offered him direct exposure to FCM back-offices and their staff with whom he worked closely to develop customer-friendly and cost-effective systems and policy solutions. Staszak was the primary CME representative at annual FIA Division strategic planning sessions, participated in many Expo and OpTech panel discussions, and was the central CME liaison to early FIA Tech projects such as eGains and eGus.
