Steve Sparke is a longtime industry expert with a career spanning more than 35 years, primarily in interest rate, futures and commodity trading.
Sparke spent 20 years with UBS, during which time he grew the UBS exchange-traded derivatives business from a standing start to a challenger for pole position in the ETD clearing world. Sparke left his position as global head of UBS ETD in 2006.
He most recently worked at UK commodity specialist Marex where he held the positions of vice chairman, leading conduct and culture initiatives, and group COO, responsible for the firm’s operating environment.
During his time at Marex, Sparke expanded the broker's global footprint with new regulated entities and offices in New York and Hong Kong. He also directed the integration of multiple businesses, including the high profile Spectron acquisition.
Sparke is a non-executive director at risk management software company KRM22 and at the UK regulated entity of TP ICAP. He was the non-executive chairman of FIA’s European Advisory Board until the end of 2019 and continues as an FIA board advisor today. He was also a non-executive director at NYSE Euronext LIFFE (now ICE Europe) for more than 10 years and at PATS Systems, a direct market access system provider, for three years.
