Jeffrey Geldermann was co-founder of GMI Software, a back-office technology provider providing clearing and accounting applications for exchange-traded derivatives, futures, options, energy, and cleared OTC products including repos, swaps and equities.
In 1997, Geldermann sold GMI Software to SunGard Futures Systems. In 2015, SunGard was in turn acquired by FIS. Through it all, however, the GMI brand and its applications have remained a key part of derivatives market operations.
Geldermann is the son of John Geldermann, former chairman of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. However, he began his career in technology, not in the trading pits. After working on projects including writing software for the clearing system at the Chicago Board Options Exchange in the 1970s, he formed GMI in 1983.
