FIA President and CEO today made the following statement on the nomination of Gary Gensler to lead the SEC:
“FIA congratulates Gary Gensler on his nomination to serve as chair of the SEC. During his time as chair of the CFTC, following the 2008 financial crisis and the enactment of the Dodd-Frank Act, Gary Gensler fundamentally transformed the regulatory framework that governs the derivatives industry. In doing so, he elevated the stature of the CFTC as a US regulator and a global leader. FIA looks forward to continuing to work with Gary Gensler in his new role, to support open, transparent and competitive markets, and to also identify areas of potential CFTC and SEC harmonization that will enhance the integrity of the financial system.”
