On 9 June, FIA gave a presentation on agricultural futures trading to the Agricultural Advisory Committee of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Using statistical data on volume and open interest, FIA assessed the size of agricultural futures markets outside the US and compared them to similar markets in the US. The presentation highlighted the size of agricultural futures markets in China, notably in soy meal and cotton, and the geographical fragmentation of agricultural futures trading in the rest of the world.
