When the New York Board of Trade needed a leader, they turned to Harry Falk. First, he was elected Falk chairman of NYBOT ’s Board of Governors on October 12, 2000. Subsequently, he was named interim president and CEO of NYBOT on April 11, 2002, and President and CEO on July 11, 2003.  He guided the exchange through one of its more turbulent periods after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Falk also negotiated the $1.6 billion deal to combine NYBOT with the Intercontinental Exchange. A member of the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, Inc. (CSCE) since 1970, he joined the CSCE Board of Managers in 1989 and was appointed Vice Chairman in 1990.  He served as CSCE Chairman from 1991-1995, Chairman of the CSC Clearing Association from 1983 to 1991 and was elected NYBOT Vice Chairman in June 2000.  Mr. Falk’s association with the CSCE began in 1958 as a clerk for Czarnikow-Rionda, where he rose to partner in the company.  Upon the sale of that company, he moved to Richco Sugar in 1982, and in 1984 joined Louis Dreyfus Corporation.  Harry is recognized for his career achievements but remembered most for this humor, wisdom, integrity and deep devotion to family. Falk died in June of 2007 at the age of 66.
