Louis Moore Bacon is considered one of the top traders in the world and his name has long been synonymous with the big success stories in the futures industry. Moore began his career as vice president of futures for Shearson Lehman Brothers. He founded Moore Capital in 1989. He is the founder, chairman, and principal investment manager of Moore Capital Management, a private firm that invests in the global financial, resource and private equity markets. Mr. Bacon is also the founder and Chairman of the Moore Charitable Foundation, created in 1992 to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations focusing primarily on conservation and protection of natural resources through advocacy, applied science, technology, and research. A native of North Carolina, Mr. Bacon earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Literature from Middlebury College in Vermont, for which he serves as a Trustee.
