Tom Russo was one of the early movers and shakers at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and went on to become one of the giants of the financial services bar. From 1975 to 1977, he was the CFTC’s deputy general counsel, and was named the agency’s first director of trading and markets. He then became a partner at the Wall Street law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and a member of its management committee. On three separate occasions, he was named by the National Law Journal as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in the country. Russo joined Lehman Brothers in 1993 and today is executive vice president and chief legal officer of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., overseeing a wide range of the company’s activities. He also sits on the board of the Institute for Financial Markets, the Group of Thirty, the Foreign Policy Association, and the U.S. Council for International Business.
