Henry Jarecki is a legendary figure in the world of metals trading. A graduate of the University of Heidelberg Medical School, he spent more than a decade practicing psychiatry in the U.S., then left medicine in 1970 to enter the bullion business. He rose to a position of great prominence in the international bullion markets during the 1970s and early 1980s as a leading figure at the Mocatta Group, the world’s largest gold and silver trading company, which he ultimately sold in 1986 to Standard Chartered Bank. Soon thereafter he formed Brody White, an international commodities brokerage company, which he subsequently sold to Société Générale in 1995. Jarecki, who was born in Stettin, Germany, served as a director of the FIA from 1979 to 1985. He was also a director of Commodity Exchange Inc., the National Futures Association and the Chicago Board of Trade. Currently he is the chairman of The Falconwood Corporation, an investment banking company with investments in a diverse range of businesses around the world. He also remains active in the world of psychiatry and is a faculty member at the Yale University School of Medicine.
