By Andrew Cross, Kari Larsen & Michael Selig
The webinar will cover the application of the federal commodities, securities, and money services laws to decentralized exchange platforms and technologies. Smart contracts, digital assets, and distributed ledger technologies make it possible for persons to execute financial transactions in a peer-to-peer fashion with little to no intermediation by third-parties. We are seeing increased use of such technologies, particularly to deliver prediction markets and derivatives trading and clearing. The speakers will discuss the mechanics of such platforms and how they fit within existing regulatory frameworks.
