These include levels of trading activity on exchanges and swap execution facilities as well as the number of clearing firms in the U.S. and the amount of customer funds held by these firms.

  • December 2024 stats on customer funds held at US FCMs

    The total amount of customer funds in futures accounts at US FCMs reached $335.4 billion in December, down 3.2% from the previous month but up 0.5% over the last 12 months. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in futures accounts was recorded at 48 in December, up from 45 year ago but down from 54 five years ago.

    Trading volume on swap execution facilities reached $1.02 trillion in average notional value per day during December 2024. This was down 15.6% from the previous month but up 20.1% from the same month of the previous year. Compared to November 2024, trading was down in every category.
