A delegation of FIA board members led by FIA global and European board members led by FIA officials Walt Lukken, Simon Puleston Jones and Jackie Mesa traveled to Brussels, Paris and Frankfurt during the week of Sept. 26 to meet with European policy makers. The group conducted 10 meetings over three days and discussed topics such as the leverage ratio, MIFID II, Brexit and third country equivalence. The group met with senior officials at the ECB, the Bundesbank, the Banque de France, and the Single Supervisory Mechanism as well as several members of European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis’ cabinet, the executive director of ESMA, and the secretary general of AMF, the chief Brexit negotiator for EU Council, MEP Cora Van Nieuwenhuizen, and U.S. Ambassador to the EU Anthony Gardner.
