FIA President and CEO Walt Lukken highlighted the importance of global derivatives markets in risk-managing the transition to a more sustainable global economy in a recent interview with SSE TV.
"Sustainability is a goal of many of our members," he said. "One reason is we feel that our markets can be an incredibly helpful tool in getting to the goals of the Paris climate agreement in 2050."
Separately, Lukken noted that "carbon is a fascinating new commodity and asset class" where derivatives markets continue to see growth and opportunity, as policymakers and private enterprises look to market-driven solutions to help fight climate change.
Lukken gave the interview with SSE TV as part of FIA's participation in the Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative.
