FIA issues statement on leadership change at FOA

13 January 2014

Walt Lukken, President and CEO of FIA and FIA Global, issued the following statement regarding the Futures and Options Association’s announcement of a change in leadership:

“I want to thank Anthony Belchambers for more than two decades of service to the industry through his leadership at FOA. I have had the privilege of working with Anthony for many years, dating back to my time at the CFTC, as well as more recently through the affiliation of FOA and FIA under the FIA Global structure, and I can attest to his dedication, integrity and deep passion for our industry. I greatly appreciate his willingness to stay on as an advisor and I wish him well in his future endeavors.

“I also want to welcome Simon Puleston Jones to his new role as the head of FOA. His expertise and background are perfectly suited to lead the association at this critical moment in time, with Europe moving to the forefront of the global debate on derivatives market reforms and with an increasingly critical need for international regulatory coordination.”

Last June, FIA and its affiliate FIA Asia formed a confederation of associations with FOA under FIA Global. This new structure enables the three associations to strengthen their influence on cross-border issues, substantially increase the coordination and information flow between regions, and provide a powerful global voice to express the views of their members. The three associations will continue to address regional issues affecting their membership, but through the new structure they will be better positioned to coordinate responses to global issues and provide industry support for global standards.
