Subscriber Update: Starting with this month's report, the volume and open interest statistics include data from two additional exchanges in the US: FairX and Nodal Exchange. Historical data for these exchanges is covered in the Additions to Historical Data tab.
Worldwide volume of exchange-traded derivatives was 4.9 billion contracts in the month of July, making it the the highest level recorded. The July total was down 2.4% from the previous month but up 26.9% from July 2020.
On a year-to-date basis, volume in the first seven months of the year was 33.82 billion contracts, up 31.3% from the first seven months of 2020.
Total open interest at the end of July was 1.11 billion contracts, the second highest level ever recorded after November 2020. The July total was up 1.8% from the previous month and up 11.2% from a year ago.
