Worldwide volume of exchange-traded derivatives was 4.57 billion contracts in the month of February, down 1.6% from the previous month but up 26.1% from February 2020. This was the third highest monthly amount ever recorded, following the record-setting totals of December 2020 and January 2021.
On a year-to-date basis, volume in the first two months of the year was 9.22 billion contracts, up 34.1% from the first two months of 2020.
Total open interest at the end of February was 1.05 billion contracts, up 7.7% from the previous month and up 7.1% from a year ago.
