December 2021 stats on customer funds held at US FCMs

Futures Accounts: The total amount of customer funds in futures accounts at US FCMs hit an all-time high of $324.5 billion in December, surpassing the previous record set in March 2020. This was up 3.4% from the previous month and up 11.8% from the previous year. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in futures accounts was recorded at 47 in December, down from 51 a year ago and down from 55 five years ago.

Swaps Accounts: Customer funds held in cleared swaps accounts at US FCMs reached $146.1 billion in the month of December. December’s level was up 4% from the previous month and up 2.6% from December 2020. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in cleared swaps accounts was recorded at 15 in December, the same as a year ago, with the addition of Mizuho Securities and the withdrawal of StoneX Financial.
