FIA announced that 66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be a featured speaker at the 41st annual FIA International Futures Industry Conference March 15-18 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Rice will headline the Optiver Power Lunch on Wednesday, March 16, where she will discuss her outlook on the global economy, cybersecurity, and the ever-changing geopolitical landscape. Following her remarks, Rice will join Optiver CEO Paul Hilgers for a discussion about how the U.S. presidential election, national security developments, economic policy and other key issues could potentially impact markets.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Rice to Boca,” said Walt Lukken, president and CEO of FIA. “She is one of the world’s leading thinkers on international relations, geopolitics, and security and her participation underscores Boca’s status as the premier event for derivatives industry executives.”
Optiver, a global electronic market maker with offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan, is sponsoring the Power Lunch in honor of its 30th anniversary.
“Dr. Rice is a best-selling author with a career spanning politics, economics, and academia, and the executives who join us at Boca will benefit from her unique perspective and considerable insight into the international climate,” Hilgers said.
Rice served as the 66th Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009 and as National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, she was Provost at Stanford University, overseeing a $1.5 billion annual budget. She was Senior Director of Soviet and East European Affairs to President George H.W. Bush during the dissolution of the Soviet Union and German reunification. She began her career as a professor of Political Science at Stanford in 1981.
