21 June 2022 – Today, the new Executive Committee of FIA European Principal Traders Association (FIA EPTA) has elected Alistair McGrath from Tower Research Capital Europe as its next Chairman at its meeting during the annual FIA IDX Conference in London.
Alistair McGrath will replace outgoing Chairman Mark Spanbroek, who was one of the founding members of FIA EPTA in 2011. Spanbroek served as chair and the association from 2018-2023 and will remain an advisor to the FIA EPTA Executive Committee for the next six months.
Incoming Chairman McGrath said: “I’m thrilled to be elected as the new Chairman of FIA EPTA and I am delighted to lead the organisation at such an important time. I would like to thank my fellow Executive Committee members for placing their trust in me to lead in the best interests of FIA EPTA’s members.
“I also want to thank my predecessor, Mark, for his stellar work over the last 12 years at FIA EPTA, and for his exemplary leadership as Chairman over the last five years. I look forward to continuing our work with regulators and policy-makers to help keep European markets open, fair and transparent for the benefit of all market participants and the European economy more broadly.”
Piebe Teeboom, Secretary-General of FIA EPTA, said: “I would like to welcome Alistair to this new role. He has already proven himself to be a leading advocate for FIA EPTA and we look forward to his continued leadership.
“I also want to pay tribute to our outgoing Chairman Mark for his exceptional contribution to FIA EPTA as a co-founder of the association and for giving independent market making firms a voice at such a pivotal time for the industry.”
During the meeting held at the FIA IDX Conference in London, the FIA EPTA Executive Committee constituted itself as follows:
