Yasuo Mogi has been a key figure in Japan’s futures markets for more than 40 years. He was a founding director of the FIA Japan Chapter and has been a board member since its inception. As Vice Chairman of Newedge Japan, he led his company to become the largest exchange-traded derivatives firm in Japan, topping his 43-year career as a senior executive in the global derivatives industry. He has been instrumental in linking Japan’s regulators and other industry leaders with their counterparts in the United States in a push for the internationalization of Japan’s markets using the United States as the model. Currently an international consultant to exchanges and market users including the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, he is known internationally as Japan’s expert on the commodity derivatives market. He has been responsible for promoting Japanese and foreign commercial and institutional interests in global exchange-traded commodity derivatives markets throughout his career. He has supported the development of regulatory frameworks and marketplaces through his involvement with organizations such as the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, domestic and foreign regulatory authorities, exchanges and industry associations.
